1960/61 TO 1979/80

17 of the 20 seasons in this era were spent in the bottom tier of English football and we only finished higher than 10th on four occasions over the same 20 year period, all in all,  pretty bleak. 
Two promotions were secured to Division 3 in 1965/66 and 1968/69 however we only stayed in Division 3 for one year and two years respectively.
Perhaps the highlights were in the Cups where we played at Anfield twice, holding Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in 73/74 before losing 2-0 in the replay. We also faired well in the League Cup in 75/76 before we went out to Spurs at White Hart Lane 7-2 in the 5th Round.
